If life was a fairy tale, Vostylidi would be the ugly duckling becoming a swan or the frog turning into a prince. A diamond in the rough, as we say. For many decades this indigenous variety was relegated to a secondary role and was only supplementary to the main Tsaousi and Moscatella varieties in order to produce the traditional Kefallonian table wine. All that has changed today and we are witnessing a completely different approach brought by what many call the Kefallonian vinic spring. New boutique wineries and a generation of daring winemakers are digging the past and experimenting to shape the future discovering along the way hidden qualities of indigenous varieties. The Hariton of the Haritatos Estate (a tribute to our grandfather and great-grandfather Haritos Haritatos) is perhaps the first 100% Vostylidi bottled for commercial purposes.
